Interior Design Colour Trends- What’s up in 2019?

With every coming new year, the world of design awaits with great anticipation the announcement that will be the driving force for their collections; The Colour of the Year.

Colour of the Year has a huge influence on designing, production, and purchasing choices made for the year across different industries -from beauty, fashion, home goods and décor, graphic design, industrial design, and many more. If you’re wondering who or what influences the colour trend, look no further. Without a doubt Pantone plays a key role in this area; since 2000 they have been setting the colour trends for every new year and for the year 2019, they did not disappoint.

Coral Table Décor by Kenneth Cobonpue

Living Coral-described by Pantone as :

“an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.”

Pantone’s colour choice for this year has me dancing for joy as coral is one of my all time favourites! Not for the faint-hearted, or for one who takes themselves too seriously, this refreshing playful colour is a far cry from the subdued neutral tones and shades seen in décor in recent years. Designers have described it as “mood-boosting and uplifting, infusing a vibrant, invigorating energy into a space without overwhelming it”. And being a colour that already appears in our natural surroundings as well as popular culture, it also brings with it a sense of familiarity that is nurturing and comfortable.

Pantone Says:

“Living Coral emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of colour found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent colour mesmerizes the eye and mind. Lying at the centre of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, Pantone Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of colour”.

How to use Coral

When used in home décor, Living Coral makes a bold statement featured as soft textiles like throw blankets, rugs, cushions and drapery. Because of its warm undertones it creates a soothing, and nurturing feel in the home, and also easily creates beautiful combinations with other colours like browns, greens, blues and greys. With its cheerful nature, Living Coral adds a dramatic splash of colour to any space; if bright colours are not your cup of tea and you still want to stick to neutrals, use coral as a contrasting accent colour against your more muted furnishings or woodwork. Whether used for décor accessories, tabletop styling, or on the wall, Pantone’s Colour of the Year will bring a breath of fresh air and joy into your interior.

Living Coral expresses warmth; that kind of harmony, human interaction and social connection that we’re looking for. I think that’s something so inherent in the human mind. it pulls you in, gathers you in, in such a warm and inviting way that it opens up an avenue to positive thoughts, not negative. That, we felt, was a really vital part of expressing the colour of the year with Living Coral.”

The Pantone colour choice of the year is superb, Coral is most certainly a happy feel uplifting colour. Thanks to these your enthralling and informative write ups, I find myself more open minded to trying out more colours in my home decor and in general.

The combination suggestions are good and I imagine coral and green would go very nicely together. Having personally experienced the soothe and warmness the coral infused home decor can give I really am glad to read about it in your blog.

I love the Coral table decor it is an absolute beauty. Do keep up the good work
